Artist Statement

It is the unique environment of Provincetown that draws me and captures my imagination. All of the elements seem to unfold naturally in my work. The land and light, the sea and sky…I am coaxed into new interpretations of what I see and feel every day. My finely graduated monochromatic images exemplify subtle, yet dramatic interpretations of the phasic qualities of the lunar cycle within the context of an inconstant sky, subjugated by variable illumination, which together convey a continuum of affective experiences. The philosophy that guides my work is to explore my own personal vision, and to share with the viewer, my “excitement of the pure joy of seeing,” referring to both the objective and subjective aspects of visual experience and memory. Always giving birth within the private heart.
